Long time, no hear

Yes, I know I am a terrible blogger. It's been 8 months. We've celebrated Lucy Cade's first birthday and she's taking a few steps. She's not quite brave enough yet to just let loose, but that's coming soon enough. We've both begun another year of school. She changed rooms at daycare and so far she really likes her new teachers. She's totally off the bottle, sleeping all night finally, and totally eating from the table. She still loves fruit and veggies and doesn't really care for french fries, not that I'm complaining. She loves butterbeans and macaroni and cheese. She also loves grapes, which is something new we've tried in the past few weeks. We also discovered she loves fried fish, which is a good thing since Papaw is famous for his fish! Her thyroid medicine is still working and she's doing well. We visited our endocrinologist in July and he was pleased with her progress. We don't have to go back until October! It's so amazing how quickly this last year has passed and how fast she changes. Every day it seems she's learning something new. She's saying a few words: Da-Da, Daddy, bye, uh-oh, and we're working on Hey. Soon she'll be chattering away!

Happy 2009!

Well, 2008 has gone and 2009 has begun. We are so thankful for everything the past year brought us, the most importantblessing of all being Lucy Cade. We've been in the road the past 2 weeks we've been off. We've been able to spend lots of time with our families, and Doug has gotten in some hunting.... successful hunting I might add. He's killed 3 deer in the past week and a half. Lucy Cade has begun rolling over, jabbering and is grabbing things much better. She loves to talk to you when you're holding her. Evidently we've begun teething as well because she drools constantly. She has also found her feet and they provide many minutes of entertainment. Christmas was fun, as much as it could be with a 5 1/2 month old. She was interested in the sounds the paper made for about 3 minutes. We left most everything unwrapped. She got several baby dolls from family members and loves them. Su-Su (my mom) gave her a book that lights up and sings and she absolutely loves that. The next few months will bring many changes... sitting up, then crawling, then walking. My, how time flies... it's hard to believe it's been almost six months since Lucy Cade was born.
She has begun eating solid foods, beginning with cereal and we've also tried applesauce. I'm going to try some veggies over the weekend. It's back to the grindstone Monday morning. How I dread going back to work!!! Happy new year to all; may God bless you and your family in the months ahead.

Found my tongue!

Lucy Cade has found her tongue. She loves sticking it out and cooing and talking to us. She's holding her head up really well. Daycare is going great. Thanksgiving is coming up and we're ready to visit our families and be out of school!

Halloween

Lucy Cade's first Halloween was pretty uneventful. We didn't go trick or treating but we did go to FBC here for their Fall Fun Festival. LC slept through most of it. Day care seems to wear her out. I"ve read that babies her age should be sleeping 14 hours a day and I laugh at that. She's never been a big napper and that has gotten no better at daycare. She may sleep a total of 2 hours the whole day, but she's till not sleeping all night yet. She sleeps on the way to West Point and on the way home and is usually asleep by 7 but she's getting up between 10 and 11 to eat and then again around 3 or so. I"m getting up at 5 (sometimes not going back to sleep after 3 or 330 feeding) and we leave no later than 6:50. On the weekends we've just been crashing. Anyway, we did have some trick or treaters, but not many. Last week was dress up week at daycare and Friday the kids could wear their costumes... we just went as a black cat since our costume was so big and bulky. Happy fall, y'all and enjoy the new picts. Sorry for the delay!

Busy, busy, busy

Well, things have been crazy at our house. I am in my third week at daycare and Mom is in her third week back at work. The first week was really tough for me; I cried a lot because I didn't know my teachers and I missed my mommy. But things have gotten better. I was having a lot of tummy troubles, and was having the tummyache all the time. But one of my mom's teacher friends (they were pregnant at the same time and she had a little girl too who's in my class at daycare) suggested she try this other kind of formula. Well, Mommy tried it and it has made my tummy feel so much better. I don't cry nearly as much, and even my day care teachers have commented how much better I feel. Mommy's year at school has gotten off to a rocky start. I hope things will settle down for her soon. It's hard getting up so early in the mornings.. we have to leave by 6:50 every day. Daddy gets me up and feeds me, changes my diaper and dresses me. I sleep on the way to West Point and on the way home too! As soon as we can, we'll post some new pictures.. Oh and I went back to the endocrinologist in Jackson back on the 17th. I weighed 15 pounds and he said I was doing fine. That was good news! He upped my dosage of medicine and said I was growing proportionally. That was a real relief for Mommy and Daddy! Tomorrow is Halloween... I'm going to be a spider. We'll post pictures soon, so check back in the near future!

Cousin Caden Claire's Birthday Party

I attended my first birthday party on Saturday. It was a lot of fun, but I was really tired when I got there because I had missed my morning naps. See, I'm not much of a morning person (like my dad) and my Aunt Charlotte wanted to visit with me, so I stayed awake to play with her. My mom and Aunt Charlotte took me to Kosciusko Walmart that morning because Caden Claire already had the present I got her. My mom and I picked her something else out, and I got a little nap on the way out there and on the way back to Papaw and Su-Su's house. Caden Claire had a tiara to wear and her very own cake! That night all of us went out to eat together. I was pooped though by the time we got back to Starkville Sunday night. I'm glad I'll be able to get back into my routine. Here are some pictures from the party. Oh, we left Ellie Mae's sister (whom Papaw says he is going to name Lucy) at Papaw's and Ellie Mae really misses her sister. She cried a lot last night. Hope she'll adjust soon. It's only 2 weeks until I start going with Mommy to West Point. I'll be going to the Methodist church day care there. I'm excited but really nervous. I hope they'll like me!

Ellie Mae is here!

My dad went after work this afternoon to get Ellie Mae and her sister, who is being adopted by my Su-Su and Papaw. We'll be taking her to Possumneck this weekend when we go for my cousin Caden Claire's first birthday party (be on the lookout for those picts next week!). Ellie and I hit it off fast and I thought she was really great. I really wanted to talk to her and tell her how great it is here, but I'll have to wait a while for that. Ellie and her sister seemed to like their new home. I'm so excited to have a new pet. My mommy had labs when she was growing up, so I get to be like her! My daddy had dogs too, just not labs. He says Ellie is going to do boy stuff, like riding in the back of the truck and going to the hunting camp. Anyway, enjoy our picts and be looking for the party picts!LC
